Thai Massage

an ancient healing art founded on presence and love

The method I learned, Thai Yoga therapy, combines traditional Thai massage and practices of yoga therapy making it very healing and therapeutic. It’s a perfect complement to whatever work or activity you do in your life.

What is it?

Thai massage is a powerful combination of massage, acupressure, stretching, traction, twisting, energy work, and meditation. It creates space in the body, which in turn offers clarity to the mind.

Disease (dis-ease) manifests when there are imbalances or blockages in the body. The aim here is to stimulate the flow of energy within the body, increasing flexibility and circulation, creating balance for the receiver. Balance is another word for health.  It can be deeply relaxing and rejuvenating, and is effective in treating injuries.

  • Energizing, Relaxing, Rejuvenating

  • Increases Range of Motion and Flexibility

  • Stimulates Circulation (required for healing)

  • Treats Injuries

  • No lotion or oil (essential oil if requested)

  • Clothes stay on

Not just a massage

It’s a partnership. The giver must be fully present with the receiver during a session. Careful movements through ranges of motion, balancing weight, and traction in the spine and joints call for much focus and sensitivity.

Thai massage is said to have been created in India at the time of the Buddha. Passed down orally and experientially for centuries, the teachings were finally written down on palm leaves in the 17th century. These texts were held in high esteem and even regarded as sacred texts.

Thai massage was commonly practiced in or near temples as a way for monks and nuns to care for one another and develop loving kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and non-prejudice. In this way, Thai massage is a spiritual practice. This is my intention, and it allows this practice to be something very special.

No stone left unturned

A full-body Thai massage truly touches every part of the human body. It’s comprehensive. The body is moved through numerous ranges of motion while muscles are massaged. Circulation is stimulated throughout through pressure, stretching, patting, pounding, and rocking.

Just as in yoga the spine is moved in different ranges of motion too: twisting, bending, folding, and inverting. The spine is mobilized and the nervous system (the western method of mapping energy) opens up and reaches parts of the body that may have been blocked before. It’s like a jolt of healing electricity is sent to a place that had no power.

Space, or traction, is created in the joints and spinal column. Traction is essential in maintaining health in these places, especially the vertebral disks. When space is created between vertebrae nutrients and hydration move into the disks which mobilizes the spine and better protects the nerve roots. It’s as if the disks get a chance to breathe!

If you ever treat yourself to one you might feel like you’re “walking on clouds.”

How people are feeling…

I had never having a Thai massage but doing yard work that is taxing on my neck, back, and legs at 50; I reached out for Nate’s expertise. During his first visit, he advised that if he did it right, I should be an Energizer bunny at work and sleep soundly that night. Sure enough, I was all energy, no pain, slept like a baby and deeply in the mattress.

I prescheduled a future massage four days later, as I was going to be doing heavy labor in the yard, and figured I’d be broken before his next visit. Instead he shows up, after a drastic difference to the yard; yet I know not why you’re here, as I have zero pain. Effective that first visit I was sold on his services. His first adjustment, as I call it, took 20 years easy off this body, been seeing him consistently every two weeks since.

Highly recommend Nate as he is personable, professional, trustworthy, and knowledgable. about what pressure point affects what issue. No lubricants, no oils, no clean up, just a relaxing massage, with some of the simplest exercises or stretches; yet all make a HUGE difference in you. You owe it to yourself to do it at least once…you’ll more than likely become a regular.

I’ve been an enthusiast of massage therapy for many years. Nate’s Thai massage technique is my favorite. With Nate, you get the relaxing muscle massage, but more importantly and enjoyable is the muscle and joint stretching and muscle lengthening he performs. To me it is best described as what a Yoga massage may feel like. In the end, I feel like he has performed a “road map of relief and better being” on me!

I'm not a massage person. I've had them sporadically throughout my life and I've never been drawn to return for more. Until now. Nate's massage is different. It's not about "breaking up toxins" by randomly applying an inordinate amount of pressure. Nor is it just a "feel good" massage that quickly fades. Nate's massage sessions have a purpose, and it seems like every move, every stretch, is designed for a particular part of the body, depending on your level of tolerance and flexibility. I emerge feeling calmed but energized - not sure how that works, but it does. And Nate's personality is uniquely funny yet spiritual. Give this a chance - you won't regret it!

Hands down best massage and experience I’ve ever had. Nate is so great at what he does and he is passionate about it and it shows. I’m always tense in my back and he walks me through my breathing and helps me relax. All his studies he have done really show in the quality of his work. Anytime I am in town I will always book an appointment with Nate. I can’t recommend him enough.

I have had Nate both as a yoga instuctor and for Thai massage. Let me tell you, he excels at both. He is very gentle and loving with his approach to both, yet the results are SO powerful. His yoga teaches patience as each asana builds from the last. His Thai massage yields an amazing release from point-work, stretches, rocking and breathwork -- a technique I havent experienced at ANY Thai Massage establishment here in Santa Clara County. Nate is soft spoken, well-educated, compassionate and better than able to help you reach your goal(s). Rest assured, you're in good hands when you book with Nate.

I’ve worked with Nate since before COVID, and his technique is integrated with a beautiful spirituality and a sensitivity to the body. Nate brings focus and compassion into his modalities and is able to work with the body instead of “at” the body. For those who are looking for a deep “tissue” massage, I would recommend being upfront about communicating desires for more profound stretches and firmer pressure. I find that I’ve moved past the sort of “brute force” massages of my youth and enjoy the holistic approach Nate brings to the session. I typically request Nate for 90 min, and I find it to be the perfect amount of TLC for my body.

Nathan’s technique is very different then I’ve ever had. With a mixture of stretching, pressure healing, breathing, flexibility, relaxation, releasing stress, joint, lower back and knee pain. Also his Technique has helped my arthritis. So grateful I found him.

I never had Thai massage prior to my first one with Nate. I really enjoy Swedish massage and heard Thai massage described as being “lazy man’s yoga”. I was game to check it out. It is that yet so much more, especially with Nate. He’s extremely easy to talk to and offers such a calm and grounding energy. I don’t know much about the energy points in the body but I can definitely feel a shift in my energy. Also, he works with me on sore spots and will provide additional support like a blanket when needed. I always leave feeling lighter and more relaxed. It’s become one of my favorites ways to take care of myself. Simply put, I LOVE it!

I had a lot of stress in my body so it was very tight. Nate was better than expected...I so recommend him...you will not regret it!!! He really listened to me. He was also on time and professional with a personal touch. The Thai massage eased my anxiety and stress.
